During pregnancy a woman’s body goes through incredible physical and hormonal changes before and after delivery. During this time, you may experience many discomforts, which for years have been accepted as ‘normal’.
However, this is now no longer the case. As experts in our field, we can assess and effectively treat the problems you experience relating to muscles, joints, bones and circulation can be illuminated and ultimately reduced through the use of injury rehabilitation and physiotherapy techniques.
These techniques create stronger, healthier core muscles and posture throughout the pregnancy. Many of the exercises recommended by our experts can be done at home on a regular basis for a fitter, more birth-prepared pregnancy.
Treatment can be carried out to help relieve the following conditions:
- Lower back pain caused by a shift in the mother’s centre of gravity as the baby grows
- Neck pain and headaches due to changes in posture
- Tightness and pain in the hamstrings and heel cords caused by a flattening of the feet
- Arm pain or tingling caused by nerve compression associated with an increased chest diameter
- Bladder leakage during pregnancy and after delivery due to strained pelvic muscles
- Stretching of the abdominal walls leading to back pain and difficult delivery due to ineffective abdominal contractions
We will work with you during your sessions to provide you with a range of techniques to be followed at home, in your own time, including:
- Exercises to improve strength and mobility
- Exercises to help postural alignment and body balance
- Techniques to aid joint and soft tissue flexibility
- Recommendations for sleeping positions
- Core stability exercises for pelvic floor muscles and abdomen
