Helen Chuntso - Acupuncturist

My love of Traditional Chinese Medicine began through the study of Tui na massage, which means literally ‘to push and grab’. It is an ancient form of both massage and internal organ healing which is excellent for treating conditions common to sports injury therapy in the west, and is excellent for treating children who would not accept acupuncture as a therapy.

Application of pressure to acupressure points stimulates the flow of qi and after receiving a treatment, which can be very vigorous and energizing; the body feels light and fresh, relaxed yet abundant in energy.

So, enthralled by Chinese Philosophy, literature and its impact upon the wisdom behind its medicine, I immediately continued to study for a Degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine, qualifying as a Bachelor of Science in Acupuncture after 3 years.

I am fascinated by what I learn every day, and my work with a wide range of patients inspires a deeper understanding of this marvellous medicine and the world which so needs it.

With a longstanding practice in Buddhist meditation, I also trained to teach meditation techniques, Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy for Pain Management and Stress Management, through Breathworks™, for whom I have developed part of the course for Mindful Movements.

This programme, now widely implemented across the private and NHS sector, is being researched as individuals and the medical community seek to deeper understand, and help with, what it is to struggle with being human and living with illnesses and pain. I enjoy working with a multidisciplinary approach to healthcare and finding solutions to understanding patients’ experiences and improving well being.

I greatly enjoy my work which is a simple invitation to kindly be present with what is happening from moment to moment, and to find a place of stillness within an often non stop world. I love to teach this simple awareness, through meditation, seeing what is difficult and what is beautiful, and I practice this myself in an every day way; I believe this is central to my acupuncture practice.

My clients conditions and lives benefit from this treatment approach, and many long standing complaints are able to move on, often where other interventions have been unsuccessful.

I love to spend my time off playing out with my friends as if we were not grown ups, feeding the birds, walking in nature, and dancing till my feet can take it no more.

May what you love be what you do, there are many ways to kneel and kiss the ground.
